Made of high quality seasoned maple and spruce by a senior violin maker at Ifshin Violins, the á l'ancienne model has become the flagship of Jay Haide instruments, created for advanced students and professional musicians requiring a superior tone quality that will complement and enhance their artistic style.

The varnish is carefully applied to achieve a beautifully antiqued look. The varnish is applied to emulate the appearance of a fine old Stradivari or Guarneri violin, following in the traditions of makers such as Jean Baptiste Vuillaume and Georges Chanot who were masters in recreating the effects of time and use in their varnish work.
