Respighi The Fountains of Rome
Holst Suite No.2 for Military Band

As the Great War raged, composers continued to try and create beauty. Respighi’s Fountains of Rome is like a huge sunburst of colour and joy; Holst’s Suite weaves British folk songs into something fresh and new. But this concert with the Royal Welsh College Wind Orchestra begins with something very different: the poignant Banks of Green Willow by George Butterworth, who died on the Somme.

Venue: Dora Stoutzker Hall
