From a very young age, Douglas expressed a keen interest in making stringed musical instruments. He completed his training at the world renowned Newark School of Violin making. He is now well established and runs his own business in Scotland, which he shares with his partner Marion Bennardo.
Douglas bases his instruments upon the classical 16th, 17th and 18th century models, incorporating modern features to match the tonal and aesthetic preferences of today's musicians.
Douglas is actively involved in sourcing wood for his instruments; here he is pictured in the Italian Alps inspecting the trees His high level of commitment to perfecting each stage of the process is exemplified by the superb quality of his instruments.
